SOME OF MY PAST CRAFT PROJECTS

Figured while adding pics i might as well add in some pics of craft items I've made in the past couple years. As you will guess my interests are vast and varied.

BLACK SATURDAY

As all of the world knows, Australia had the worst bush fires in history. The fire storm travelled at nearly 200 km ph...and was less than 5 kms from my home. Over 200 people lots their lives that day, estimated over 1 million animals died, almost 700,000 acres were burned out. Over 1000 homes were lost and almost 1500 severely damaged. The temperature in our back yard got up to 118f, and we had wind gusts inexcess of 150mph. It was certainly a day I shall remember forever. Roads were closed in the district, power went out, we had no television or radio services as all local towers burned down.

Here are a few pics from my house.

These are some Lorikeets in my garden. We really want to work at bringing more birds into the garden, although I don't think its going to be hard...I put out 2 of these little feeders and we get loads of birds in it.

The front of my house really needs painting but we're altering the railing and other parts first. I have 2 pyramidal (is that a word?) topiary's I made (started from nothing all by myself, Im rather proud of them) there but it needs more. I made this little plaque to add to one of the bigger walls, liven it up a little.

Well, this stupid cast is driving me nuts, Im so bored. I thought at the start that this would be cool, no housework everyone waiting on me hand and foot...well i can tell you its not..Im bored, I'm frustrated. I see things I want to get up and do or even just get and its so difficult.

We spent the weekend moving the livingroom around, its the one room I've never really been happy with, its a hotchpotch of left over furniture that didnt fit in any other rooms. Now I think I have not only found the plan but the personality of the room. Its going to be my tropical getaway. Its a huge room, and we've turned it into 2 rooms, at one end is our tv/medi,a room, we filled the other end with a lovely little Gary Masters suite, a smoked glass round top, with 4 chairs. Its fairly small but its perfect for the space. Next Im going to need a couple of tall cane/bamboo wall units/bookcases etc...but it is all coming together.

On the foot front, Im most unhappy with the doctor, I will give it a couple more weeks but if I don't see any improvement (this week it seems to have got much worse) I'll be seeing my gp to send me to another specialist. I need this to get better.

I am right into my craft at the moment, I am getting a lot of items finished, but still a lot to go.

This is brand new year, and i need a brand new me. I feel like i dont have a life, i dont do anything. I clean house, i cook for my family and i do a few crafts but i think i can do far more. I want to give, I want to make things for other people, i want to more things for me. I want to read, go to movies, do some craft classes, meet people and enjoy life more...i want to spend more time with my wonderful husband doing things we both enjoy...starting right now..
Tomorrow I will look for some classes to do and go join the library so i have books to read...i might even take some cooking classes, i've got to eat so why not make some thing different.

Ok, off to my craft room.

Time gets away

I haven't posted here in a while. Time really got away over Christmas. It really didnt seem like Christmas and I have decided that we will not go away just prior to Christmas again. It just doesn't leave me sufficient time to get ready.
I've just started undecorating. I'm taking my time and taking inventory as I go so that I may save some time next year. I"m making a list of items I want to buy, make and bake before next year.

Today was a lovely day so we spent a little of it out in the garden. My roses really can do with some tlc, but the weather is supposed to be horrendous this week. I just cannot work outside in the heat, so I shall spent most of this week trying to organize the inside of the house which may leave me more time for the outside eventually.
My priorities this week are to get the rest of the decorations down and put away, finish off my birdhouse I've been painting for ages and to get the spare room cleaned up and turned into my new sewing room.

Dinner tonight was nice, for the first time I made bbq Chicken quesadillas...so easy. We will definetly have these again, spread bbq sauce on the tortilla, top half with cooked chicken and a handful of cheese ( I used half mozerella, half tasty), then fold the tortilla over and fry in a heavy pan for 2 minutes in 1 teaspoon of oil...these were scrumptious..
